Kya Booker (she/her) is a high school senior and volunteer research assistant in the PERCH Lab at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has a strong passion for biomedical research and plans to pursue a degree in biochemistry before continuing on to an MD/PhD in neuroscience. She is currently dual enrolled at California State University, Dominguez Hills along with being a senior at CAMS high school. Her long-term goal is to bridge scientific discovery and clinical application, with a focus on developing cutting-edge therapies for Alzheimer’s disease.
Her research interests include neurodegenerative diseases, heart rate variability analysis, and the intersection of technology and healthcare. Beyond research, she is dedicated to increasing representation in STEM. As co-president of her high school's Black Student Alliance, she has worked to foster academic success and mentorship within her community. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exploring new scientific concepts, and advocating for diversity in research.
