Vanessa (she/her) is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She is currently a McNair Scholar and research assistant on the PERCH research team. Vanessa’s current research interests include parenting styles, cross-cultural perspectives, and mental health in children and adolescents. She is interested in applying to graduate school programs in psychology in the future and eventually working with children and adolescents in mental health therapy settings. As a first-generation student from the Latinx community, Vanessa aspires to form part of the mental health field to support children and adolescents, specifically children and adolescents in minority groups, in discovering more about their true potential and values as humans and provide them with resources to create an internal safe space in their minds. Outside of her academic and research activities, Vanessa enjoys reading self-development books, trying new foods, and watching movies.
